ABOUT THE MUSIC
Matt Gross is a soul singer and loves a Michigan winter.
As of late, he tends to be found sitting at a piano infusing simple song structures with complex emotions. Whether it be of jazz standards, folk classics, popular soul, rock or original songs listeners can expect performances that are deeply committed to the tone and feeling of each note and lyric. Matt considers himself lucky to be joined occasionally in ensemble by individuals of unique musical gifts and has learned to expect that such collaborations become remarkable in the moment of sharing with an audience.
Kaitlin Rose has the rare ability to combine a mosaic of guitar styles, powerful and fluid vocals, and evocative lyrics into a seamless whole. Kaitlin’s music displays story-telling at its finest, be it a hushed ballad, a traditional-sounding folk tune or a country-tinted, rollicking jam.
ABOUT THE VENUE
This is a house concert—we do our best to fit as many people as we can and still be comfortable. Because space is limited we require reservations, simply email us at email@example.com to let us know you’re coming, and if you find you can not come, please let us know so we can give your seat to someone else.
We host house concerts to provide an opportunity for folks to enjoy quality music in an up-close and quiet listening environment. While we like to encourage inter-generational activities, we ask that you use your judgement about bringing children.
Directions & Parking
From downtown Kalamazoo, follow Michigan Avenue east. Just after the King Highway turnoff get in the right lane and stay right as you pass under the viaduct (you are still on E. Michigan Ave). Straight through light at E. Main, continuing on E. Michigan — we’re in the next block on the left just past the community garden — look for yellow house with grey fence. Street parking available on the south (east-bound) side of E. Michigan Avenue. Use the arbor entrance from E. Michigan to house. If you require an accessible entrance, please turn left on Foresman and left into the first driveway and use our back door.
